MEET LINDSAY . . .

Picture
Welcome to "The Quote I Wrote!" My name is Lindsay and, you guessed it, I'm the girl who wrote the quote. I'm also a 23 year-old certified life coach, working and living in the Washington, DC area. As stated on my professional website: my job as a life coach is to help clients reclaim their lives by giving them the tools to see themselves, as well the courage to be themselves. That said, my desire to motivate and inspire others goes beyond the work of my day job. Allow me to explain.

Growing up, I used to continually try and be the person I thought others wanted me to be. I wore the clothes and listened to the music that others said looked and sounded "cool." I worked hard in school so I could later attend a prestigious university and prove to my family that I'm just as smart as my brainy brother. Essentially, I tried to be perfect. Worst of all is the fact that it was only when I was being "perfect Lindsay" that I felt as though I was worthy of friendship, love, and overall acceptance. Nevertheless, it took facing death, surviving sexual assault, and overcoming an eating disorder to make me see that going through life wearing a permanent poker face turns life itself into one big game—a game you can never win. This is because working to be someone you are not is exactly that: work! Miserable and utterly exhausted from a lifetime of faking it, I decided it was time for a change.

"If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done!"
- The Girl Who Wrote the Quote
Working to find inner-peace, fulfillment, and happiness, I spent a number of years thereafter trying to improve myself. I began by doing the expected: I surrounded myself with good-hearted people, kept a daily journal, and started to live a healthy and physically active life. Whereas I cannot deny the fact that the above changes had a significant impact on my "happy person" evolution, I can tell you that the most impact-full change I made was the inclusion of a daily quote-reading every evening.

Providing inspiration and endless amounts motivation, I spent many-a-night sitting in bed, reading hundreds of uplifting quotes. Feeling empowered, I would wind up going to sleep feeling confident and ready to take on the following day. And while I no longer feel compelled to read said quotes on a nightly basis, the fact of the matter remains that I often still do. Why, you ask? Well, why not!!

The power of the quote is universal and unending—and frankly we all can use some "quotation inspiration" these days. Heck, thats the main reason I started The Quote I Wrote...to share said power with more than just my head and my heart. The Quote I Wrote is all about empowering you!

Sharing is caring. So please, share away...
